Frequently Asked Questions
Curious about how MAVI works? Here are answers to the most commonly asked questions about our business model, talent placements, hiring process, and more!
How does MAVI work?
We start by understanding your company and the specifics of the role you're filling. Once we have a clear picture of your needs, we use AI and human expertise to match you with the best-fit candidates in our network. You receive a shortlist of two to three targeted profiles, we schedule interviews with the candidates you want to meet, and once you find the right fit, we help onboard them directly into your team. From there, you focus on the work – we handle contracts, payments, data security, and compliance.
Does MAVI place full-time or part-time talent?
Both. Of all of our engagements, roughly 40% are full-time and 60% are part-time at 10 or more hours per week. The right arrangement depends on what your team actually needs, and both are available from the start.
What type of work can MAVI talent do?
MAVI focuses exclusively on finance and accounting, covering the full function: bookkeeping, reconciliations, AP/AR, month-end close, financial reporting, modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and more.
On the accounting side, the talent pool ranges from Staff Accountants with three to five years of US GAAP training – many with Big 4 backgrounds – up to Controller-level candidates who have led large teams. FP&A talent spans from junior analysts with investment banking or private equity backgrounds through Senior Analysts and FP&A Managers with 10+ years of strategic finance experience. How is MAVI different from other hiring solutions?
MAVI is an AI-driven talent marketplace – not a recruiter, staffing agency, or BPO. The founding team comes from corporate finance and fintech, and the vetting process was built from the ground up based on industry knowledge refined across tens of thousands of accounting and FP&A interviews.
In practice, a few distinctions matter. Unlike staffing firms that assign from a fixed roster, MAVI gives companies access to a curated network of independent professionals who want embedded, in-house-style roles with US businesses. Unlike traditional recruiting, MAVI works exclusively in finance and accounting, which makes matching more precise and dramatically faster. Instead of waiting four-plus months and reviewing 50+ resumes, companies receive two to three profiles – candidates who get hired around 90% of the time. And unlike BPOs or outsourcing firms, the talent works directly with you rather than through an intermediary layer.
MAVI handles all administrative overhead – contracts, payments, compliance, data security – so both sides can focus on the work itself. How does MAVI guarantee high-quality talent?
Only the top 2% of applicants make it into the network. The vetting process covers background screening, technical skills testing, experience and leadership assessment, software proficiency verification, and credential checks. Each stage is designed to evaluate what actually matters in a US client engagement: technical accounting depth, independent operating ability, communication quality, and ERP fluency. Credentials alone don't pass someone through.
Can we interview and test candidates before making a decision?
Yes. After reviewing the shortlisted profiles, we schedule interviews with the candidates you want to meet so you can assess their skills, experience, and fit before committing to anything.
How does MAVI ensure a long-term fit for my team?
Every placement includes a 14-day trial period with no upfront payment required. If the fit isn't right, let us know and we'll move quickly to find a replacement. The goal is to give both sides a real working test before any longer-term arrangement is locked in.
Where are MAVI Talent located?
MAVI is a global platform with talent from over 10 countries, focused on the top 2% within each region. The two largest hubs are Latin America (Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, and others) and APAC (Philippines, India, and others).
Do we have any overlapping work hours with MAVI Talent?
Yes. All MAVI talent are required to overlap at least 50% of their working hours with their employer's schedule to keep collaboration running smoothly. If time zone coverage is a specific priority for your team, let us know upfront and we'll prioritize candidates who meet your requirements.
How does MAVI address communication issues common to working with global talent?
Advanced English proficiency – written and verbal – is a baseline requirement for every professional in MAVI's network. Communication quality is assessed directly during the vetting process, not assumed from credentials or geography. The practical result is that you can work with MAVI talent the same way you'd work with someone in-house: direct Slack threads, async close updates, live calls without building in extra review time for written outputs or worrying about something getting lost in translation.
How does MAVI ensure data security and compliance?
MAVI Talent work inside a secure virtual environment hosted on US data servers. The environment is structured so that data cannot be copied or downloaded – financial information stays within the controlled system regardless of where the professional is located. The machines are SOC 2 compliant and equipped with robust endpoint protection, meeting the security standards US companies require for handling sensitive financial data.
How do payments work with MAVI?
MAVI charges a single monthly recurring fee that covers the talent's compensation and platform fees for ongoing talent management – contracting, payments, compliance, and data security. There are no upfront placement fees and no long-term commitment. You pay while the talent is actively engaged, and the arrangement can be adjusted or ended on a month-to-month basis. If something isn't working, you're not locked in.
